Le Petit Mouton ist der Zweitwein von Château Mouton Rothschild und stammt aus den jüngeren Rebanlagen des Weinguts. Er wird seit 1993 produziert und zeigt sich bereits in jungen Jahren sehr zugänglich. Obwohl die Assemblage von Jahrgang zu Jahrgang variiert, weist sie stets einen höheren Merlot-Anteil als der Grand Vin auf, häufig mehr als 20 %. Le Petit Mouton vereint die typische Charakteristik eines Pauillac mit dem herausragenden Know-how des technischen Teams von Château Mouton Rothschild.

The 2025 Le Petit Mouton offers up aromas of dark berries, mint and toasty new oak, followed by a full-bodied, rich and ample palate that's broad and muscular, built around plenty of sweet, powdery tannin. Ripe cassis, black raspberries, chocolate, spicy and smoky graphite nuances all define the 2025 Le Petit Mouton De Mouton, the second wine of Mouton Rothschild and in the running for the top second wine in the vintage. Based on 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot that's resting in 50% new oak, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a round, layered mouthfeel, ripe, pure, precise tannins, and a great finish. It's one hell of a second wine.
