This is the first time I notice a Riserva designation on this wine. The Petrolo 2019 Val d'Arno di Sopra Riserva Bòggina C reveals a dark and slightly evolved bouquet that builds upon the ripe and concentrated personality of this classic vintage. Dried cherry and blackcurrant are followed by toasted spice, tarry smoke and leather. The tannins are polished and smooth, and the wine strikes a generous, medium-bodied approach. Only at the very end do you notice a cheerful but fleeting spot of sweetness. - ML 03/2022
