The 2023 La Gaffelière is very pure and floral on the nose, with black cherries intermingling with violet and iris flower scents. The new oak is neatly integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and layers of lightly spiced black fruit. Cedar and graphite furnish the poised but persistent finish. This is another in a succession of impressive wines from this estate that just oozes sensuality. Superb. - NM 04/2024

Je n'oublierai jamais le moment où, après avoir dégusté La Gaffelière 2021, j'ai appelé Alexandre de Malet pour lui dire que lui et ses équipes étaient parvenu à réaliser un des meilleurs Gaffelière des dix dernières années, si ce n'est le meilleur… et cela en 2021 ! Je ne vais évidemment pas l'appeler à chaque fois, mais si l'on prend 2021, 2022 et 2023, on peut sans hésitation parler d'un trio de choc, avec un niveau exceptionnel. Le 2023 se distingue par sa fraîcheur, sa précision. Il crée le lien entre des nuances minérales, végétales, fruitées et épicées avec une complicité frappante entre chaque élément. Le contexte vif et soyeux du palais souligne également l'harmonie gustative. Les tannins sont fins, exacts, sereins et en phase avec le caractère incisif de la structure acide ! Sacré calcaire… on lui doit une fière chandelle. Un vin scintillant et salivant. - YB 05/2024

From one of the finest estates in Saint-Emilion, the 2023 Château La Gaffelière checks in as 58% Merlot and 42% Cabernet Franc from clay-limestone soils that spent 21 months in 50% new French oak (including 12% 500-liter barrels) with 2% in amphora. Ripe red and black fruits, leafy, smoky tobacco, graphite, crushed stone, and hints of chocolate all emerge from this brilliant 2023, and it's concentrated and medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, focused, layered mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, integrated acidity, and a great finish.
