Produkt

Vinous

The 2023 Vin de Constance contains around 10% botrytis, like the 2011 and 1997 that you will also find in this report. It was one of the latest harvests on record, with picking between 14 February and 18 April and an incredible 25 passes through the vines to achieve the perfect ratio between raisins and green berries. This underwent two weeks of skin contact and a two-month ferment that stopped naturally, then it was matured in 500-litre barrels (50% new) for 18 months. It has a subtle nose, more nuanced than recent vintages, with dried honey, mandarin, clementine and touches of marmalade. Very fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with just the right amount of viscosity on the entry, the acidity perfectly judged, though maybe a little more linear and less flamboyant than the more decadent vintages that Matt Day has overseen. As such, you could well argue that it has more drinkability. 162 g/L residual sugar.
