The 2024 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Forêts Saint Georges 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with vivacious red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit that leans towards Vosne in style, perhaps just without the violet component. I appreciate the transparency here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, wonderful balance and silky smooth with a very cohesive and tender finish without any shortfall in flavour. This is one wine which I think demonstrates what the 2024 vintage was able to do rather than what it could not.

Just 9 barrels made instead of 100 the previous year! Both figures are rather extraordinary. An attractive mid purple. A riper red fruit bouquet, and absolutely pure. A burst of startling strawberry in the mouth, perhaps not quite as persistent as in a top vintage, but they have done a very good job to get here. A more than honourable result! Drink from 2030-2036.
