Tenuta di Trinoro 2015 (Double-Magnum)

Tenuta di Trinoro, cuvée emblématique du domaine du même nom, affole les critiques depuis son premier millésime en 1997 (1995 et 1996 n'ont pas été commercialisés). Généreux, profond, à la texture inoubliable, cet assemblage varie énormément d'un millésime au suivant et peut comprendre une dominante de merlot, de cabernet franc ou de cabernet sauvignon. L'élevage prend place en bois neuf; sa durée varie elle aussi considérablement. Tenuta di Trinoro est l'un des vins mythiques d'Italie.

The gorgeous 2015 Tenuta di Trinoro pours into the glass with inky dark richness that is beautiful to behold. This wine is made primarily with Cabernet Franc but has some Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot mixed in as well. Although Andrea Franchetti had retreated from his trademark overripe style in recent years, you get a nostalgic glimpse of it here. The warm growing season has conspired to create a rich and textured red wine with aromas of blackberry preserves, cherry confit and subtle baking spice. This is a charming and exuberant creation that is open and loud even at this very young stage in its long and promising lifespan. Drink: 2019-2035.
