The organic Grattamacco 2023 Bolgheri Vermentino (with 20,000 bottles made) shows refined elegance with a subtle flinty, ashy mineral note that lends definition to citrus fruit and lemon zest. About one-third of the wine is aged in barrique and tonneaux, with the remainder in stainless steel, a combination that preserves freshness while adding gentle texture. The 2023 Vermentino offers up candied citrus, chamomile and marzipan, all lifted by perfumed floral top notes. Medium in body and pliant with lovely mid-palate depth, Grattamacco's 2023 Vermentino is an extremely versatile white wine to drink as an aperitif or at the dinner table. A closing touch of petrol adds an exotic flair.
