Notes de dégustation

Wineadvocate

A poster child of the vintage, the 2011 Barolo Monvigliero opens to dark fruit concentration with bold aromas of blackberry, dried cherry and pressed rose. The wine is richly concentrated at its core with a round, enriched feel and subtle fruit sweetness on the finish. You will also recognize distant whiffs of tar, espresso bean and cinnamon. Because of the softer and more immediate approach, I would suggest a slightly shorter drinking window. - ML 06/2016

Vinous

One of the more reticent wines in the range, the 2011 Barolo Monvigliero is also one of the most promising. Understatement and nuance are the calling cards in a Barolo that captures a highly appealing interplay between the unique personality of this Verduno site and the trademark Scavino textural richness. Bright beams of supporting acidity and minerality give the Monvigliero much of its energy and drive. The Monvigliero has firmed up quite a bit since bottling and I expect it will require at least a few years to fully come together. Drink: 2017-2036.
