Grand Veneur "Les Vieilles Vignes" est une cuvée concentrée et puissante de Châteauneuf-du-Pape qui voit le jour au nord de l'appellation. Ce vin est tiré des plus vieilles vignes du domaine, au rendement naturellement faible, qui offrent un jus complexe. Il s'agit d'un assemblage à dominante de grenache élevé 16 mois (40% en cuve béton, 60% en fûts). "Les Vieilles Vignes" de Grand Veneur est un Châteauneuf-du-Pape classique, à apprécier après quelques années ou à garder en cave.

The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is the most backward and impenetrable of the three Grand Veneur cuvées, hence my reluctance in a blind tasting to elevate it above the others. It still shows incredible concentration and promise, combining mocha, cherry and plum notes with masses of chewy tannins. The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes carries a deep ruby/purple-tinged color as well as a classic bouquet of black raspberries, ground pepper, garrigue and hints of graphite. Gorgeously pure, elegant and seamless on the palate, with building tannin, it's impeccably balanced and shows the best of this vintage.
