Le Petit Cheval est le second vin du Château Cheval Blanc et est produit depuis 1988. Le Petit Cheval posséde un caractère particulier voir unique, le vignoble étant voisin de Pomerol. Un encépagement particulier pour Saint-Émilion, le Cabernet Franc domine le Merlot,ce qui produit un vin noble,très ouvert, intense et onctueux. Le Petit Cheval pourrait se boire jeune mais il offre également la possibilité d´une garde importante.

There are only 15,000 bottles of the 2023 Le Petit Cheval, a blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc that didn't have quite the plenitude of the grand vin. Offering up an attractive bouquet of minty berries, cherries, plums and petals, it's medium-bodied, pillowy and vibrant, with polished tannins and a bright core of fruit. The 2023 Le Petit Cheval represents 10% of the estate's production and is a blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc. In a way, that results in a Petit Cheval that is very Cheval, meaning very expressive in the bouquet but less giving on the palate. Crushed red berry fruit, cinnamon, star anise, pomegranate and blood orange lend an exotic flair. Bright acids and persistent tannins appear on the finish to give the wine shape, closing with a burst of energy. Superb. - AG 04/2024Beck
5 parcelles sont dédiées à Petit-Cheval ; 3 de Merlot et 2 de Francs. L'élevage s'effectue à 100% en barriques d'un vin de Cheval. "L'année a été généreuse pour Cheval-Blanc", explique Nicolas Corporandy, le chef de culture de la propriété. "Nous avons eu une floraison très groupée, tout comme la véraison et au final un rendement de plus de 40hl/ha". Le bouquet affiche beaucoup de fraîcheur, respectivement des nuances d'eucalyptus, de pivoines et de réglisse. La texture soyeuse du palais souligne l'élégance du vin. Les tannins sont parfaitement intégrés et offrent une assise fiable avec de la puissance, mais surtout beaucoup d'harmonie, ce qui constitue d'ailleurs le fil rouge du vin. Bright cassis and graphite notes as well as spicy wood, dried herbs, and tobacco all emerge from the 2023 Château Cheval Blanc Le Petit Cheval, the second wine of this reference point estate that was pulled from healthy yields of 39 hectoliters per hectare. Based on equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the more sandy parcels and aged 16 months in once-used barrels, it's a juicy, gorgeous wine in its own right. I love its complex, supple, elegant style, and it's medium-bodied, has ripe tannins, and a great finish. There are roughly 1,300 cases produced, and it hit 13.5% natural alcohol with a pH of 3.77.
