Just released, the 2024 Y d'Yquem is shaping up to be another magnificent wine from the team led by CEO and Technical Director Lorenzo Pasquini. It offers up a heady mix of white flowers, pineapple, passion fruit and coconut, all in an airy style that is more about understatement than power. I suppose the 2024 could be enjoyed now as an apéritif given its light to medium-bodied personality, but that would be a shame, as all the magic will happen here starting around age ten and then in the decades that follow. If I could, I would buy a case, taste one bottle now and then open another bottle every three or four years. Ygrec is a wine that offers many chapters of evolution. Today, readers see the prelude to a story that will develop over the next 40-50 years.
