Le Barbaresco d'Angelo Gaja est une des références les plus connues du Piémont. Bien qu'il soit plus ouvert que les cuvées parcellaires, c'est néanmoins un vin structuré qui offre un potentiel de garde d'une quinzaine d'années. Ce nebbiolo est élevé 12 mois en barriques puis affiné 12 mois en bouteille avant sa mise sur le marché. Le Barbaresco de Gaja est produit depuis la création du domaine en 1859. 14 parcelles entrent dans son assemblage; il offre donc un reflet fidèle du millésime et du terroir de la commune.

Showing a pretty ruby appearance, the Gaja 2023 Barbaresco impresses with the extraordinary finesse and focus of its aromas. The bouquet is beautifully linear with delicate notes of wild cherry, rose and sweet spice that unfold with precision. The palate is open and charming, reflecting the warm vintage with a gentle sweetness of fruit, yet it never loses the elegance or structural definition that have long distinguished this benchmark wine. The tannins are seamlessly integrated, and despite the year's heat, the wine remains graceful and refined. The 2023 growing season, with its cooler August followed by renewed warmth, appears to have allowed the vines to adapt more successfully than in 2022, resulting in a wine that balances ripe fruit with freshness and poise.
