Le Volnay "Caillerets" du domaine Henri Boillot offre un nez explosif aux évocations de fruits noirs et de notes exotiques (cassis, thé, cannelle). La bouche est sensuelle et marquée par la minéralité typique de ce lieu-dit. Cet excellent Premier Cru, tiré d'une parcelle de 0,6 hectare, voit 50% de bois neuf durant son élevage.

Invariably a highlight of the portfolio, Boillot's 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets derives from a low-yielding 60-are parcel of 55-year-old vines. Unfurling in the glass with a deep bouquet of wild berries, plums, raw cocoa and sweet soil tones, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, its concentrated core of vibrant fruit underlined by succulent acids and framed by chalky tannins. This is a brilliant wine that's worth a special effort to seek out.'Morris
Really intense imperial purple. Fully ripe fruit, plums teetering on the prunes. Saved by the mineral freshness on the palate which does indeed drive the wine at the finish. But the balance only just works. Warning signs for the future.Degustation
