Le Gigondas Le Poste du Château de Saint Cosme, domaine référence de l'appellation, voit le jour sur le lieu-dit du même nom où sont plantées de très vieilles vignes de grenache, un terroir orienté sud, le plus en altitude du domaine, qui est pourtant l'un des premiers à parvenir à maturité (vendange en première semaine d'octobre); Le Poste est un vin singulier qui ne ressemble à aucun autre parcellaire de Saint Cosme. Comme pour les autres Gigondas du domaine, la vinification en vendange entière est suivie d'un élevage de 12 mois (30% de bois neuf).

There is very little of the 2009 Gigondas Le Poste, as 70% of the production of this vineyard was destroyed by hail. Consequently, it is one of the few Gigondas wines that has more Syrah in it, simply because there was not enough Grenache to make it. Barruol, much like Michel Chapoutier, wants to have an accurate “vintage” photograph, and he has done that with this wine, which is actually very good. It is a little lean, but it does exhibit a dark ruby/purple color and some interesting earthy and black fruit notes intermixed with flowers, forest floor and earth.Vinous
Deep ruby. Aromas of cherry, dark berry compote, cola and licorice, with a smoky, spicy quality in the background. Energetic blackberry and bitter cherry flavors become sweeter with air and pick up suggestions of singed orange and candied lavender. Wild and expressive Gigondas, with excellent finishing thrust and lingering florality.
