You can really taste how the 2011 Barolo Cannubi reflects the territory-specific characteristic of this famous vineyard cru. The bouquet opens to distinct mineral notes with polished river stone and dusty granite. Those aromas rise and blow off, revealing heavier underlying tones of dark fruit, spice and balsam herb. The 2011 Barolo Cannubi stands out for its nuance and amplitude, both signatures that separate it from many of the other wines in this range. There is a real sense of pedigree here, but it is hard to describe with mere words, as is often the case with Grand Cru Burgundy. Beautifully resonant and expressive, the Cannubi is shaping up to be a real gem.
