La Chapelle, deren Weinberge seit Jahrhunderten historisch auf dem Hermitage-Hügel angesiedelt sind, hat seinen Ruf auf der Exzellenz seines Weins und auf seinem legendären Ort aufgebaut. Seit 1919 wird diese heute mythische Cuvée auf den steilen und steinigen Hängen von die Familie Jaboulet und später die Familie Frey bewirtschaftet. Der klassische Wein bietet eine Nase voller Lebendigkeit, kribbelnder schwarzer Früchte und pfeffriger Blumen. Ein prächtiges Versprechen von Tiefe in Reichweite des Gaumens, der etwas Vibrierendes und Raffiniertes an sich hat. Die aromatische Komplexität macht den Abgang mit Noten von Amarelle und Veilchen intensiv und zugleich voller Vitalität.

The 2014 Hermitage La Chapelle Blanc offers a liquid rock-like character as well as sensational notes of buttered citrus, flower oil, white flowers and stone fruits. Backward, tight and compact on the palate, it needs 2-3 years of cellaring and will drink well over the following decade. I love the elegance and purity in these 2014 whites. (made entirely from fruit grown in the Mayson Blanche lieu-dit and aged in used demi-muids for nine months) Light green-hued yellow. Highly perfumed, incisive aromas of white peach, tangerine and honey pick up suggestions of iodine and chamomile as the wine opens up. Shows superb clarity and thrust on the palate, offering sappy citrus and pit fruit flavors that deepen and spread out slowly with air while maintaining energy. Finishes with excellent focus, mineral lift and persistence, leaving behind hints of candied lemon, pear nectar and oyster shell. The combination of depth and finesse here is pretty stunning, and I'll bet that this wine will enjoy a very long, smooth aging arc. Drink: 2024-2035.
