Der Petit Ducru ist eine schöne Einführung in die Qualitäten seiner älteren Geschwister Ducru-Beaucaillou und La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou: Komplexität, Struktur bis hin zu Ausgewogenheit und Eleganz. Gemeinsam haben alle Weine strenge technische Vorgaben, drastische Auswahl und anspruchsvolle Weinbereitung. Hier dauert der Ausbau in Barriques 12 Monate mit 1/3 neuem Holz. Eine Assemblage aus Cabernet und Merlot, manchmal, je nach Jahrgang, mit einem Hauch Petit Verdot.

A newcomer to the Ducru-Beaucaillou stable, Le Petit Ducru wine was formerly called Lalande-Borie. It is essentially a third wine, coming from part of the vineyard of Ducru-Beaucaillou. The 2018 Le Petit Ducru is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged for 12 months in barrel, in one-third new oak. It has an alcohol of 14.5%. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with wonderfully pure scents of black and red currants, black raspberries and mulberries plus suggestions of tobacco leaf, bay leaves and fertile loam. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling juicy black fruits flavors with soft tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with an herbal lift. LP-B March 2021

Bouquet invitant, agréable où l'on ressent un peu plus le côté chaleureux invitant du millésime avec des notes de baies noires bien mûres mais également le côté terroir avec des graphites. En bouche le vin a une bonne tenue grâce à des tannins bien intégrés. Un vin de caractère qui en surprendra plus d'un. Il a du tempérament, de la sapidité et de la persistance.
