Notes de dégustation

2009 was a warm, early and ripe vintage with high yields and bigger bunches, and that's reflected in the 2009 Almaviva, which shows more austere and undeveloped than the 2005 I tasted next to it. It combines power and concentration with elegance and has a little more extraction and plenty of powdery, dusty tannins. It's not the most concentrated vintage; it seems more on the elegant side. - LG 10/2018

(made from 73% cabernet sauvignon, 22% carmenere, 4% cabernet franc and 1% merlot, raised for 18 months in new French barriques ): Youthful purple color. Primary dark berry and cherry pit aromas are complemented by notes of vanillin oak, mocha and Indian spices. Broad and fleshy on the palate, offering sweet blueberry and cassis flavors and suggestions of dark chocolate, cola and vanilla. Becomes smokier with air and finishes with very good clarity and strong spicy persistence. This yet-to-be-released wine will no doubt reward patience.

This is in the same vein as the great 2015. There’s a very plush, rich and ripe nose and palate with a bold and very intensely fleshy texture. Silky and velvety. Such polish and perfection. Blueberries and blackberries So long and full at the finish. Drink or hold. - JS 07/2020
