The 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos has turned out well, wafting from the glass with aromas of golden orchard fruit, citrus oil, dried white flowers and drawn butter. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, it's bright and lively, with a fleshy core of fruit, succulent acids and a delicate, mineral finish.Vinous
The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru clearly has the most powerful aromatics from Simon-Billaud in 2018, offering fragrant scents of pear, yellow plum, chalk and sea spray, that marine element becoming more prominent with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a gorgeous, seamless, slightly honeyed texture. Good acidity here keeps everything in balance – undeniably an opulent Les Clos that trades tension for richness, yet manages to keep everything on a perfectly even keel. Great length. Pure clear colour. Very fresh and beautifully poised nose, much more together than the 2019 is at this point. Really classy, pure white fruit, builds very nicely behind. With moderate salinity, this is a good example of Clos. Sept 2020Degustation
