The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet with scents of red apples, orange blossom and crushed stone aromas that gradually gain momentum with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Tropical tones are kept in check by the tension toward the persistent finish. There is a sense of elegance about this Combettes, which so delicious that it will be difficult to resist cracking it open young. (DIAM GC closure)

Morris

Combettes has to be picked very early according to Frédéric Barnier. Pale primrose, there is evident plump fruit and power on the nose. It is attractively concentrated and retains a core structure but the generosity of this terroir does want to burst through. Tasted: November 2018.
