Philipponnat’s 2015 Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé announces itself with a strikingly deep hue, derived from the 28% vinified as rosé de saignée blended with the white component. Comprising 84% Pinot Noir and 16% Chardonnay, approximately 71% of it was vinified in oak. The wine opens with expressive aromas of pomegranate, pink grapefruit and cherry. On the palate, it is full-bodied, ample and textural, with a generous core of fruit energized by ripe yet racy acidity, concluding with a long, delicately phenolic finish. Reaching 12.1% potential alcohol prior to harvest, this is a structured, muscular Champagne ideally suited to pair with red meats and tuna.
