The 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva Querciabella is a fragrant and fruit-forward expression with bold layers and rich texture. This is a compelling and velvety wine that opens to notes of black cherry, red rose, spicy tobacco and wet earth. Querciabella's 2011 Querciabella Chianti Classico Riserva is dark, fleshy and voluptuous in the glass. Stylistically, the Riserva is a bigger wine than the straight Chianti Classico, but also has less personality than the single-vineyard wines. Sweet red cherry, plum, rose petal and spice meld into the racy finish endowed with plenty of the generosity of the 2011 vintage. Although the 2011 Riserva is an attractive wine, it's hard to see where it fits into the range, partly because the straight Chianti Classico has improved so much in recent years. Drink: 2016-2027.
