Notes de dégustation

Wineadvocate

Philipponnat’s 2000 Clos des Goisses L.V., now fully mature in both hue and aromatic promise, bursts from the glass with generous notes of ripe pear, honeycomb, orange zest and acacia blossom. Sourced from one of the hottest vintages of its time, it is full-bodied and enveloping, with ripe yet energetic acidity. Notably, the wine was vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks. Disgorged in March 2025 with the customary dosage of 4.5 grams per liter, this is a straightforward, expressive Clos des Goisses. However, one should not expect the structural harmony this site has achieved in its finest vintages. While this isn’t a historic Clos des Goisses, the 2000 is drinking at its peak today.

Vinous

Dunnuck

A very generous, high-yielding vintage, Philipponnat had their most significant production of Clos des Goisses in 2000. It was a vintage with very high ripeness, which leaned toward botrytis, but the advantage was that due to the ripeness of the area, the grapes ripened earlier. This allowed them to avoid some of the botrytis issues, as they harvested it two weeks before the rest. Released 25 years after harvest, the 2000 Champagne Clos Des Goisses LV Extra Brut is 61% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay. Only 43,000 bottles were produced, but this vintage resulted in a voluminous wine with flavors of croissant, honey, apricot, and toast. Full-bodied, it maintains fantastic minerality and a chalky texture with refinement. Notes of refined creaminess and delicate pepperiness are present, and it still offers freshness, especially on the palate. The nose features more mature notes, but it's not overdeveloped. It’s long on the palate and should drink well for another decade with no problems.
