Description

Wineadvocate
The 2012 Chambertin Grand Cru is stricter on the nose when compared to the Chapelle-Chambertin, only reluctantly revealing marine influences that impregnate the black fruit profile. It is a little “strict” and “aloof” at the moment. The palate is sensual and very well balanced on the entry with supple tannins, a gracious Chambertin with an elegant, feminine and very pure finish. However, I feel that it is outclassed by both the Clos-de-Beze and Chapelle-Chambertin this year. - NM 12/2013Vinous
One of the least expressive wines in this range, the 2012 Chambertin is quite closed today. Iron, dark/black fruit, spices and tobacco take shape in the glass, but ultimately it is the tannins and overall sense of structure that dominate. This large-scaled, broad 2012 is going to need quite a bit of time to fully come into its own. The malo was a little later here, and that shows up in the wine's slightly raw, unformed personality.
