Carruades de Lafite Rothschild ist der Zweitwein des berühmten Weinguts Château Lafite Rothschild in Pauillac, der mit einem höheren Anteil Merlot vinifiziert wird, um ihn zugänglicher zu machen. Die Assemblage reift 16 bis 20 Monate in Fässern (bis zu 80 % neues Holz), die auf dem Weingut hergestellt werden. Seinen Namen hat der Wein vom Plateau des Carruades, einer Gruppe von Parzellen in der Nähe des Schlosses.

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the 2023 Carruades de Lafite is lovely, bursting with aromas of minty blackberries, cassis and cigar box, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate that's creamy and textural, its generous core of fruit largely concealing its powdery structuring tannins, concluding with a long, resonant finish. - WK 04/2024Vinous
The 2023 Carruades de Lafite is notable for some of the Cabernet being picked prior to the Merlot, between September 7 and 29. This year, there is no Cabernet Franc or Petit Verdot in the blend. It has a far superior bouquet to some of the vintages I was tasting a decade or so ago—much more purity and precision, with notes of black plum, wild strawberry and a touch of cassis. The palate is medium-bodied with a silky texture and a crisp line of acidity. It’s fresh, precise and saline, with a long tail on the finish. Le Cabernet Sauvignon est arrivé à parfaite maturité, d'où son pourcentage de plus en plus élevé dans l'assemblage de Carruades. Le bouquet ne manque pas de souligner la fraîcheur présente au travers de nuances de baies rouges complétées par une touche de bois de réglisse. L'élégance forme le fil rouge de Carruades, Dès les premières senteurs, le vin annonce de la finesse, de manière constante, jusqu'en finale. Et pourtant, il peut compter sur le précieux soutien de tannins puissants qui agissent discrètement, mais efficacement, en coulisse, communément avec la structure acide. Un vin salivant que l'on pourra certainement apprécier jeune... et moins jeune ! - YB 05/2024
