Das Terroir von Château Canon La Gaffelière liegt am Fuss der Küste südlich des mittelalterlichen Dorfes Saint-Emilion und besteht aus ton- und kalkhaltigen sowie ton- und sandhaltigen Böden, die sehr filtrierend sind und besonders empfänglich für Hitze sind. Auf diesem Boden gedeihen die Cabernet-Trauben hervorragend und verleihen der Opulenz der Merlot-Trauben eine Kraft und aromatische Komplexität, die die natürliche Eleganz und Finesse der Weine von Canon La Gaffelière verschmelzen lassen.

The 2023 Canon La Gaffelière is a powerful, dense wine. In recent years Canon La Gaffelière has been on the more perfumed side, but the 2023 moves in a direction of textural intensity. On the other hand, its balance is compelling. Dark red-toned fruit, pomegranate, spice, blood orange, mint and dried herbs open, but only with great reluctance.
