Château d'Armailhac 2022

Im Laufe seiner Geschichte wechselte das Château d'Armailhac mehrmals den Besitzer und den Namen (in der Klassifizierung der Grands Crus von 1855 erscheint es unter dem Namen Mouton-d'Armailhacq), bis es schliesslich von seinem Nachbarn, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, erworben wurde. Die Rebsorten bestehen vorwiegend aus Cabernet Sauvignon und Merlot, die auf traditionelle Weise angebaut werden. Der Ausbau umfasst etwa 30% neue Fässer und 70% Fässer, die direkt von Mouton-Rothschild stammen. Das Château d'Armailhac hat in den letzten Jahren beeindruckende Fortschritte gemacht.

The 2022 Château d'Armailhac was picked from 8 to 27 September and matured in 50% new oak. This has a very pure and sensual bouquet with precocious black plum, cassis violet and espresso scents. The palate is medium-bodied with muscular tannins on the entry, though I find just a little more complexity compared to the Clerc Milon this year. There's a gentle and discrete crescendo toward its delineated and minerally finish. Excellent. This is more like the d'Armailhac that I was familiar with, say, ten years ago. It will surely be irresistible once it reaches its peak. You've been warned. - NM 04/2023

D'Armailhac 2022 se présente avec beaucoup de caractère, d'authenticité. Il met d'abord son appartenance à Pauillac en évidence au travers de notes de graphite et de cèdre, qu'il a certes souvent révélées mais jamais d'une manière autant pertinente. Il met également son élégance en valeur de par son attaque élancée. Le côté crémeux ne manque pas de souligner une certaine densité tandis que la finale se veut fraîche et même un peu saline. Les tannins affichent une légère austérité, mais elle ne remet pas en question l'excellent niveau du vin, bien au contraire, elle contribue à étirer la finale, donc à prolonger sa persistance. - 04/2023

Another wine that showed beautifully on multiple occasions, the 2022 Château D'Armailhac checks in as 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. This deep purple-hued beauty offers up a full-bodied, ripe, sexy profile that carries lots of blueberry, cherry, and cassis fruit, notes of spice, leafy herbs, and chocolate, velvety tannins, good acidity, and a great finish. It should have a broad, lengthy drink window. - 05/2023
